Bloodwood is an exotic wood that is sometimes referred to as cardinal wood, for its obvious beautiful deep rose color. With age its color does darken, but not significantly. The wood is very dense, with a tight fine, mostly linear grain.
The tone of this urn is a gorgeous red and gold color. The urn is finished with Danish Oil and has a nice sheen to it. In the light, it looks stunning and royal. The bloodwood board was nearly one inch thick and I retained as much of that as I could. The urn is heavier than most of my urns.
This is my highest-priced urn because it is made from an exotic wood that cost twice as much as usual and is more difficult to find. It is also such a hard material it certainly dulled my blades a bit... but in the end, after all the sanding it emerged as perhaps the most beautiful of all the urns I have made.
The urn will be wrapped in a velvet bag and the price includes shipping through the US Postal Service.
